Jeffrey

Jeffrey, who attends College of Marin, recently achieved a huge goal: he was invited to be an officer in the school advocacy group called Students for Social Justice. It's an inclusive, democratic organization made up of College of Marin students promoting progressive change through economic, environmental and social justice.

"Being involved in this student led organization is very important to Jeffrey, and speaks very highly of his character and desire to help others." says Erik, his living skills trainer.

Rafael

ICS partnered with Rafael to secure his job as a produce clerk at Sprouts. Rafael's goals are to be respected for his work ethic and to be promoted in his career at Sprouts. He and his ICS job coach have been focusing on ways that he can help make the produce department look beautiful, and his hard work is paying off because sales are up in the produce department!

Rafael's dream job is to be a photographer. He's currently saving for a better camera and to take photography classes. “Don't matter how low we have been, what matters is how high we planning to get, in achieving excellency in anything that we do.”

Sarah

Sarah was working part time at a library but really wanted to launch a career where they could put their degree from Mills College and their administrative and writing skills to use. After working with ICS' Employment Programs Coordinator, Elaine, Sarah started a full-time position with the State Department of Public Health.

Shortly after COVID-19 started, Sarah’s position became essential. They are on the frontlines receiving, supporting and directing critical calls and their position is crucial in their community. Sarah recently took on additional responsibilities and is about to start their new role as Training Coordinator, and Sarah has their sights set on more promotions in the future!

Kristin

Before December 2019, Kristin had always lived with roommates. Ready to have a place of her own, Kristin found a condo that was everything she was looking for and more. Her landlord, Gayle, offered her the condo on the spot after meeting Kristin. It was a perfect match. Gayle is delighted to have Kristin as a tenant and the feeling is mutual. Kristin absolutely loves her new place!

Julie

Julie, a co-chair of the ICS Client Advisory Committee, suggested that the committee meetings start an hour earlier during daylight savings time because it got dark sooner. As a result, meeting attendance more than doubled! Julie has co-lead the committee for almost five years and much of the committee’s success is thanks to her hard work and dedication.
